Dr. Ifeanyieke leads academics at Sure Edge Montessori. She brings over twenty years of classroom experience and is a certified Early Years and Montessori teacher.

Professor Eke oversees administration and planning, bringing the discipline of university-level academic leadership to the running of the school.

How we hire, and why teachers stay.

A Montessori classroom asks more of a teacher than a conventional one, so the bar at interview is high and the training continues after appointment.

Only candidates holding an education certificate are invited to interview.
Every teacher completes teaching practice with the school before being employed.
Teachers are trained after appointment, and retained — we build staff rather than replace them.
Teachers who join without classroom experience learn on the job, mentored by experienced colleagues.

Beyond qualifications, we look for the thing that cannot be certificated: whether a person likes children, and has the patience to let a child work something out slowly instead of doing it for them.

A young child’s day involves more than lessons, so it involves more than teachers.

Trained caregivers

Caregivers trained to monitor children through the activities of the day — particularly in the creche and nursery years.

Health personnel

A nurse and Red Cross personnel are assigned to the school.

A rights-of-the-child teacher

A trained member of staff teaches the rights of the child to pupils every day.
